Analyzing a Web Site
When analyzing a web site one must consider its creditability. All of my professors that I have had during my higher education all have advised their students to consider the websites with org. and gov. But also consider the college on site libraries and or on line. I know that the University of Phoenix has managed to create a library that has been checked thoroughly and its creditability is highly ranked by professors and students.
The web site that I decided to analyze is the Wolfram Library from Widener University. It offers different programs for those that just want to get their AA degrees all the way to Doctoral Degrees. Widener University has a wide range of different degrees to choose from, but I choose to view and analyze the Human Services Department. In the home page for Human Services it states that, “with many connections to the region’s leading schools, agencies, clinics, hospitals and other health, education, and social service providers, the School of Human Service Professions presents you with the opportunity to develop a rewarding career, help your community, and add to your existing personal and professional accomplishments (home page 2010). This department offers the following degrees; Center for Education, clinical Psychology, Physical Therapy and Social Work. It is a wide range for those students who are looking forward into majoring in Human Service Professions.
I found the site to be useful and resourceful because for me it gave a small description of its degrees offered. It also gave the opinions of Alumni’s and students who are currently enrolled at the University. The web site also provided phone numbers and names of future contacts and departments. It also gave administrations person to contact, number and email address. I found very encouraging for the site to do so, because it allows students to contact personally the staff and get insightful information or one on one with the direct head of the department.
Over all I found this web site to be useful and resourceful. It was easy to navigate through its different links. I recommend the web site for those who want to get more information on Human Services as a profession.
