CPS Human Services
CPS stands for Child Protective Services. CPS is a human service agency designed to protect children that are believed to be neglected, abused emotionally and sexual, and physically abused. CPS is designed to remove the child from the custody of a parent, family member, guardian or foster home in order to stop the abuse. The goals of CPS are to protect children and to provide help for parents in how to treat and raise their children, this will illuminate the continuing of the abuse and negligence. CPS also provides alternative solutions when parents are not able to care for their children.
When someone reports suspected child abuse or neglect to CPS they must contact the local department of social services or to a local law enforcement agency. When child abuse or neglect is suspected by a health provider, educator, human services worker, or police they are required to report it verbally and written within 48 hours. A report must follow that should include, the name and address of child and parent, location of child, age of child, names and ages of all children in the home, any information relayed to the incident, and the identity of the individual or individuals responsible.
CPS is not just a web site that helps negligence and abuse, it also assists families in need. There are families that struggle financially and CPS directs them to agencies that can provide assistance like food stamps, emergency food programs, temporary cash assistance, and Medicare. Adoption and foster parenting is also a service that CPS assists with many couples are not able to have children and there are millions of children in need of a good home and loving parents. Mothers that go through a divorce can obtain the help of CPS for child support services, restraining orders against abusive husbands.
