Former US Sen. Malcolm Wallop dies at 78 at Wyoming ranch home; fought for ‘Star Wars’ defense

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Former Wyoming U.S. Sen. Malcolm Wallop has died at age 78.

The Republican who served in the Senate from 1977 to 1995 fought for "Star Wars" space defense and for a tough anti-communist policy in Central America.

Kerrie Kimmel of the Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan says Wallop died Wednesday afternoon at his home near Big Horn.
